If you’re in the Bloomington area tonight, make sure to check out the Cleptoz at Jake’s. This trio has been rocking mic’s in Indiana and beyond since ’02, and their live show is always packed with energy. It’s been a while since they’ve “stolen a show” (Cleptoz.. get it?.. nevermind), so it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a party.
The legendary Judge over at Vinyl Meltdown posted a nice little MIX to get you hip to The Tornado Alley, the world’s first Twitter supergroup. Yeah, I said it. You’ll hear the story soon enough… In the meantime, head over to VM and download these tasty mp3′s.
There’s a bevvy of talented DJ’s in Indianapolis, and Scott Matelic often creeps to the top of the list. As DJ MetroGnome said last year at the Jazz Kitchen ‘Dilla Tribute Show’, “Scott Matelic,…he’s just so smooth… He makes zero mistakes, ever.”
Enjoy, and pick up a digital copy of the Party People EP on Nov. 3rd! My personal fave is ScottieOttie, which all you Kast fans will enjoy. Horns!!!

Yes, back to back Cudi posts. Not a bad day when you perform with Jay-Z, then go on Letterman and crush the ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ performance. This is my favorite song of the moment, hands down. MOTM, in stores 9/15.
Thanks to Jose 3030 for the speedy video uploading, per usual.
Lebron’s new movie about the high school years comes out next month. Pretty forward thinking to film a documentary of Saint Vincent-Saint Mary’s & hold it back for years, or maybe they just pieced together footage from players, coaches, etc. Either way, the other 4 seniors are about to be movie stars… can’t be mad at that.
It’s been cool watching ?uesto & fam on Jimmy Fallon, but it’s even better hearing new music from the Legendary Roots Crew. Black Thought branches out with some melodies on the chorus, and it works great. He also give you vintage Tariq, tearing apart his verses over ?uestlove’s head-nodding drums.
I first saw this on Twitter over the weekend (shock), and I couldn’t help but grin. Chappelle did an impromptu show in Portland, OR at Pioneer Square at 1am for 4,000+ people. Unfortunately, he only showed up with a small amplifier and one mic, saying he expected a hundred people. We’ve all (save for the unnecessary Lil-Jon-impersonating-I’m-rich-bitch-yellng-fans) been anxiously awaiting Dave’s return to the public eye. I kind of expected him to reappear during the election season in support of Obama, but he’s obviously just been doing a lot of pushups back in Yellow Springs, OH with the fam.
I love everything about this spontaneous show because it captures Dave’s essence. Beyond handling the crowd with a calm, comedic demeanor, he brought up local singer Kamaria Wilson (who he met that day) to sing. You can see her performance at the 5:34 mark of this Youtube video. Go to SupportKamaria.com to donate and help her achieve a dream.
The comment section in the Oregon Live story, and the multiple Youtube videos captures the excitement and energy from the night. I just hope this means a new stand-up or a Block Party Pt. 2… preferably in Indianapolis. Thanks, Dave.
Kind of bummed there wasn’t more “jet setting” in the video, but it’s a well directed video for the D.C.-native. Performing on a rooftop with the Capitol building in the background is always cool.
He may or may not have been sneaking a peek after watching the video below, but Sarkozy was breakin his NECK to get a glance! Either way, classic picture, and probably required a quick explanation to Michelle.
To be fair, I bet women were even gawking at that posterior.
Wow, this is crazy. I run along the downtown canal all the time, and all you ever see are paddle boats and people feeding ducks. Can’t imagine seeing this on my jog.
UPDATE: I guess they were being winched by a machine, which is why we never see a boat. Pretty cool… wish they would have shown footage of how that was set up.
Flight Of The Navigator might have been my favorite movie growing up. What kid didn’t wish he had special control of a spaceship & could talk to robots? From the theme music to mind-boggling floating steps, this movie had me mesmerized. Although, I was freaked out at the part when David went back home, and there was a different family living in his house. I remember sometimes worrying my parents would be replaced by strangers when I’d come home from school. Ha!
I hadn’t thought about the movie in ages, and today it popped in my head. I also forgot Pee Wee Hermann & Sarah Jessica Parker were in this flick! Classic, classic film for 80′s babies. This needs to be added to my DVD collection yesterday.
If it wasn’t for Wale’s new mixtape Back To The Feature, this would be the only thing I’m listening to.
J. Cole, from Fayetteville, NC, is Jay Z’s first signed artist on the Roc Nation label. I saw this guy all over the blogs, and honestly put off downloading it because the artwork bothered me (same thing happened with Drake’s Comeback Season). But make no mistake, he has the talent, intelligence and charisma to make a big splash. Most people are talking about the track “Lights Please”, but “I Get Up” will not leave my head, no matter how much I try to get it out…
I’ve never been to Volrath, but it must be alright if MHC has a new event there. Hosted by Rusty, who just sent me a new one, fresh off the stove for the summertime.
