I’ve been listening to this album a lot the past week. Trav P wrote about it back in March 2008 on Victory Is In My Clutches (RIP):
Another highlight of the trip was my predeparture itunes purchase. I’d been debating whether to download Make Sure They See My Face by Kenna for several months – I just couldn’t decide if I was into the “pseudo-emo/soul” vibe that Pharrell is now championing. But I am definitely pleased with the album – it has an N.E.R.D. feel to it, but with more of an electro-soul sound and less rock; plus Kenna’s vocals are much better than Pharrell’s. Suprisingly, for a Neptunes production, Skateboard P makes no cameos.
Kenna was a 2009 Grammy nominee, was featured in Malcom Gladwell’s 2005 book Blink (the book I have in both soft and hard cover, yet still have only read 50%), had a song on FIFA ‘08, … and likes to climb tall mountains. In a 2007 interview with VIBE, Kenna said:
I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – that kind of kicked off the album because it’s a metaphor for my life. I reached 18,200 feet, got sick and had to come back down… for a week after I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Pharrell called me everyday like [in a whispering Pharrell voice] “Yo, man, are you going make sure they see your face?
My favorite song off the album, hands down, is “Static”, and the video for “Out of Control” (song on FIFA ‘08) is well worth three minutes of your time.
Bonus download: Kenna ft. The Cool Kids – Loose Wires (remix)

Question: How come you check for shit after Trav tells you about it, but my referrals are pretty much dog shit to the ears???
By the way the NEW P.O.S (Rhymesayers) album titled Never Better is amazing…You’ll probably be blogging about how “fresh” and “ahead of it’s time” it is come Christmas.

Also, Props to T-Pain for the DRAKE link…can’t stop listening to it.
Any time I question your unchecked aggression and habitual line-stepping/perma-hating…. I remember it influences your music, and I relax.
Remember that time I tried to get you to listen to Cody ChesnuTT on a 32-hour round trip drive to the bottom of the map? Yeah…
’static’ is a monster. but i’m gonna have to give ’sun red blue sky’ the nod.
cd helped me piece myself back together after a fall from grace.
