I try not to post stuff until I fully listen, but sometimes I pass it along if I looks good. Well, this is one that I’m 5 songs into, and am loving every second. 10 Deep is 2 for 2 on mixtapes in the past few months.
Kanye can exaggerate, if you haven’t noticed… but he calls Kid Cudi the “Best new artist!”. I won’t will go that far, but I’m really feeling Cudi’s music. I posted his “Wasting My Minutes” song from 88 Keys mixtape last week, which was easily relatable. So, I was instantly intrigued by this guy. Now after hearing him reference his “stoner charm” and say things like “all the while make my words important so if I slip away… if I die today, the last thing you remember won’t be about some Apple Bottom jeans with the boots with the fur”, he’s got my attention.
That’s not even mentioning the musicality and choices of beats that he goes in on… i.e. ‘Chonkeyfire’ and ‘Pink and Blue’ (both Outkast beats), and “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” from Gnarls.
